The Philippines,
for families who refuse to stay home.

No "kids' club" at a resort pool. No itinerary that falls apart on day two. No operator who says "family-friendly" and means they have a cot somewhere in the back. Real journeys, designed around how families actually travel — including the 4-month-olds, the nap schedules, and the dogs and cats.

Why we actually understand families

"We have children ourselves. We started travelling with our daughters when they were just 4 months old. We know what this actually means."

Not the version of family travel that looks good in a brochure. The actual version — where the nap schedule is sacred, where the cot that was "pre-arranged" isn't there when you arrive, where the boat feels wrong and you pull your child closer without knowing exactly why.

We have been those parents. We have made those calls at 2am from accommodation that wasn't what we were promised. And we built Arkipelago's family programme around never letting that happen to someone else's trip.

Every detail we pre-source, every contingency we build in, every vessel we verify — it comes from experience, not a checklist we found online.

Multi-generational family on the Loboc River cruise, Bohol — grandparents, parents, and young children together on a private boat journey

Loboc River, Bohol — one family, three generations, one journey. This is what we design for.

The Arkipelago family difference

We've thought of what you haven't yet.

Most operators say "family-friendly." We say: here is the cot size, here is the vessel's child PFD inventory, here is the English-speaking paediatrician's number at each destination, and here is what we do if it rains on day three.

🛏
Pre-arrival sourcing
Cot, steriliser, high chair, baby carrier, nappies, sunscreen stock, children's life jackets sized to your children. All confirmed and in place before you land. Not "arranged" — actually there, physically, in the room.
Safe on the water
Private vessels only — no shared tour boats with strangers and fixed schedules. We carry infant and child PFDs on every sea day. We check conditions the night before, not the morning of. Captains are briefed on your children's ages.
🗓
Flex built into every day
Every day has a full version and a lighter version. If someone is sick, overtired, or just done — we have a fallback plan that doesn't ruin the trip. No schedule survives contact with a toddler. We plan for that.
👩‍⚕️
Medical preparedness
English-speaking paediatrician contacts at every destination. Nearest clinic documented. We ask about allergies, medications, and any health considerations during planning — and we build that knowledge into how we design the itinerary.
🏊
Water conditions briefed
For every beach and swimming stop, we tell you the depth, the current, and whether it is genuinely safe for your children's ages. Not "calm water" in the copy — specific, honest information before you get there.
🙋
Childminder contacts
Pre-vetted local childminder contacts at each destination — for the evenings when parents want dinner without counting the minutes. Available on request and arranged well before you arrive, not improvised on the night.
We design for every age

Your children's ages change everything. Good.

A 4-month-old and a 13-year-old need completely different itineraries. We know that. Tell us exactly who is coming and we design around every one of them — simultaneously.

0 – 18 months
Babies & Infants
Nap schedule protected. Feeding breaks built in. Steriliser confirmed on arrival. Calm-water destinations only. Shade and cool accommodation prioritised. We've done this ourselves — we know what actually matters at this age.
18mo – 4 years
Toddlers
Short activity windows, big rest periods. Stroller-accessible routes. Snack-stop planning. Activities chosen for high engagement and low frustration. Contingency plans for the inevitable meltdown that has nothing to do with the Philippines.
5 – 11 years
Young Children
Tarsier sanctuary, Chocolate Hills, snorkelling with guides, jungle walks with naturalists who know how to talk to children. Activities that are genuinely memorable — not just "suitable." These are the trips they talk about at 30.
12+ years
Pre-teens & Teens
Intro diving courses, wreck snorkelling, overnight on uninhabited islands, cooking with local families. Old enough to have experiences that feel like theirs — not a scaled-down version of their parents' trip.

"Finally — someone who gets it. We don't want to choose between having children and having extraordinary experiences."

What every family client tells us — usually within the first five minutes
Your whole family travels

Your dog or cat
comes too.

We have travelled extensively with our own pets. We understand what most operators simply don't — that a dog or cat is not a complication to manage. They are a family member to accommodate.

For families who travel with animals, this is often the single paragraph that makes the decision. Because nobody else handles this the way we do.

Dog on a kayak in El Nido, Palawan — travelling with pets across the Philippine islands
  • Pet-friendly accommodation verified at every destination — not assumed, confirmed
  • Private transport throughout — no shared vehicles where pets aren't welcome
  • Veterinary contact identified at each destination before you depart
  • Local staff briefed on your pet's routine, dietary needs, and temperament
  • Food and medication sourcing confirmed at destination if needed
  • Destination-specific restrictions noted (national parks, certain islands) — no surprises
  • Pet-appropriate villa or accommodation confirmed — not just "pet-friendly," genuinely suitable
Where we take families

The destinations that work for everyone.

Every destination below has been chosen because it serves every age in the group — from the toddler who needs shallow calm water to the teenager who wants to dive.

Central Visayas
Bohol & Cebu
Our strongest family destination, full stop. Shallow, calm Panglao beaches for the youngest. Tarsiers for everyone. Whale shark snorkelling in Oslob with safety guides. Chocolate Hills at dawn. Loboc River cruise. The Cebu historic quarter for older children. No destination in the Philippines serves every age group simultaneously as well as this one.
Best from: all ages, including infants · 7–10 days
Oriental Mindoro · Near Manila
Puerto Galera
Two hours from Manila — the ideal starting point for Manila-based expat families or families arriving into MNL. Tamaraw Falls for younger children, world-class diving for older ones. Quiet Aninuan and Talipanan beaches with calm, shallow water. Short trip viable: a perfect 3-day first experience.
Best from: all ages · 3–5 days
Mimaropa · Western Philippines
Coron, Palawan
Limestone karsts, extraordinary water, Kayangan Lake — the Palawan experience without El Nido's crowds. Best for families with children 8 and older who can snorkel confidently. Island-hopping days on private vessels. Twin Lagoon by kayak. One of the most visually extraordinary destinations in Southeast Asia.
Best from: 8 years+ · 6–9 days
Cordillera · Northern Luzon
Baguio & Sagada
Cool mountain air at 1,500m — a complete contrast to beaches, and genuinely memorable for older children. Banaue rice terraces (UNESCO). Strawberry picking in La Trinidad. Sagada's hanging coffins and cave spelunking for pre-teens. For families who want the Philippines nobody expects.
Best from: 8 years+ · 5–7 days

Journeys can combine destinations — Bohol + Puerto Galera is a popular 7-day family start.

Discuss Your Family's Journey
How it works

From first message to last transfer home.

You tell us who's coming — ages, personalities, pets, special needs. We handle everything else.

01
Tell us about your family
Ages of every child. Any pets travelling. Dietary needs, health considerations, the toddler who won't sleep past 5:30am. The more we know, the better the journey. Use the form below — we'll come back within 24 hours.
02
A conversation — not a questionnaire
A 20-minute call where we ask the things the form didn't cover. What went wrong on the last trip. What your children are obsessed with this month. What your idea of a good travel day looks like. We're designing for your specific family.
03
We build the itinerary from scratch
Day-by-day, with age-specific notes, flexible fallbacks, pre-arrival sourcing list, accommodation confirmed, vessel safety briefed, and the full version alongside the lighter version for every day. Nothing is a template.
04
We refine it together
Add a day, drop a destination, swap the sequence. Nothing is booked until you say so. We adjust until it feels right for your family — not a family in general.
05
We're with you until you're home
A 24/7 contact number for the entire journey. If something changes — weather, a sick child, a pet issue — you call us and we fix it. That's the whole point.

Common questions

Things family clients ask us.

Can you plan a Philippines trip with a baby or infant?
Yes — we have travelled with our own daughters since they were 4 months old. We pre-source everything before you arrive: cot, steriliser, high chair, baby carrier, infant life jackets for all sea days. We know which destinations work for very young babies (calm water, no rough roads, good shade) and which to save for later. We design the itinerary around nap times and feeding schedules, not the other way around.
Can we bring our dog or cat?
Yes — we have travelled extensively with our own pets, and we treat them as family members, not complications. We verify pet-friendly accommodation at every stop, arrange private transport only, identify a veterinary contact at each destination before you depart, and brief local staff on your pet's routine. For families who travel with animals, this is often the single detail that makes the decision — because no other operator handles it this way.
What happens if a child gets sick mid-trip?
Every itinerary we design for families includes a built-in flexibility layer — a lighter version of each day that works if someone is under the weather. We document the nearest clinic or hospital at every destination, carry contact numbers for English-speaking paediatricians, and build in rest time so a sick day doesn't destroy the week. We plan for the version where it might happen, so you don't have to think about it.
Are the boats safe for very young children?
Safety on the water is the first conversation we have. We only use private vessels — never shared tour boats. We source child-appropriate life jackets, including infant PFDs, for every sea day. Captains are briefed on the children's ages. We check sea conditions the night before any boat day, not the morning of. And we always have a fallback plan if conditions change.
Which Philippines destinations work best for families with young children?
Bohol is our strongest destination for families — gentle terrain, calm shallow beaches at Panglao, the Chocolate Hills, the tarsier sanctuary, whale shark snorkelling in Oslob with guides. It works for every age from infants to teenagers. Puerto Galera is excellent for families based in Manila — two hours away, genuinely diverse activities. Coron in Palawan works well for families with children over 8 who can snorkel. We always discuss ages honestly before recommending destinations.
What do you pre-source before we arrive?
Everything on the list you give us, and several things you haven't thought of yet. Typically: cot, steriliser, high chair, baby carrier, child life jackets (sized to your children), stroller-friendly vehicle confirmation, sunscreen stock at accommodation, nanny referral contacts at each destination, and a medical kit. If travelling with a pet: veterinary contact, food sourcing confirmation, staff briefing notes. We send you the complete pre-arrival list once we've designed your itinerary.
