that started with a business plan.

It started long before that — in the back seat of a vehicle crossing a provincial road somewhere between Mindanao and the coast, watching the country move past the window the way only a child does. My family has been in logistics for generations, moving goods all over the Philippine archipelago. Which meant that from a very young age, I was moving with them — through provinces most visitors never reach, across routes that don't appear in any travel guide, into the ordinary life of islands that are extraordinary if you know how to look.

My name is Kathy. I was born and raised in these islands, and I have spent my entire life learning them — not as a tourist, but as someone for whom the Philippines is simply home. I know which captains you can trust in open water. I know where to be at dawn and why it matters. I know which resorts actually deliver on their promise, and which ones are beautiful in photographs and mediocre in the room.

The clearest signal that I wasn't imagining any of this came from the person I married. My partner has travelled every continent on earth. He has lived on multiple sides of the world. And he chose to move to the Philippines — not to visit, but to stay. That decision, made by someone who has seen almost everything the world offers, tells me more about what these islands are capable of than any travel award ever could.

We have children. We have pets. We have planned proposals, guided retirees, and navigated every configuration of family travel imaginable. Arkipelago is the answer to the question we kept getting from the people in our lives who wanted to visit: Can you just plan it for us? The real version? So that's what we do.
